Hello Friends,
I hope you are all having a restful and fun-filled Fall Break. Please remind your student to bring their Bison Binder on November 3. There will be a few changes/updates, so please check their binders Monday night. I will also be sending home some exemplars for our informational writing unit, so you can see proficiency indicators and rubric elements. We will spend time on Monday getting back into our classroom routines! Enjoy the rest of your break! I can't believe how fast this year is going by. If you have some time, students should be practicing their math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication) every night for at least 15 minutes. We will be starting our Fraction unit on Monday. Students will continue to practice multiplication and division in Math Stations. Students need to be fluent with their multiplication facts by the end of 3rd grade if not sooner. We have spent time learning about what Multiplication is and means. This is important because we want students to develop conceptual understandings to continue to make sense, generalize and justify as mathematicians while problem solving. We will come back to multiplication soon, but I encourage you to have your student practice their math facts every night. How can one problem they know, help them solve a harder problem?
Under "Home Support", you will find a tab that says "Fact Fluency". Here you will find some websites that will support students at home with fact practice.
Please see below about Math Night.
