Homework is purposeful and meaningful because children are expected to apply what they have learned previously that day. I expect students to be responsible and organized and I will prioritize modeling and verbalizing my homework expectations this week.

Nightly Homework
Reading: Read 30 minutes every night. On occasion, I will have kids respond to their reading and encourage them to use what we are learning in class, in their independent reading.
Math: Tonight students were assigned to complete PG. 47 AND 48.
We are learning different combinations of coins to make $1.00
Next week we will be getting into Unit 2. I will send home a family link that highlights what we are learning and exploring. If
Spelling: Students will be taking a test on List 1 of the high frequency words on 9/14/2012. If students passed the pre-test, they were responsible for coming up with 10 words they wanted to learn how to write, read, and spell.
**By the end of the year, I expect students to become independent with the task of filling out their "homework log". We talk a lot about mistakes vs. habits and in this case, we want this to become a HABIT!
